1836Nov 19, Railroad opened from Newark to Orange (cars drawn by horses)
1837Oct 2, Railroad extended to Madison (steam power). First train passed thru South Orange. One track only.
1854First Station at South Orange built (of wood) at First Street.
1860Montrose First Station build of wood appears on map, West side of train at Mountain House Road. Later Second Station (wood) East side of track at Montose ave. Name then changed to Mountain Station.
1866(Fall) Two tracks thru South Orange.
1868Dec 31. D.L. & W.R.R. leased M. & E.R.R for 99 years.
1884Second Station at South Orange Built (of brick) on Sloan Street.
1915Third (present) station at Mountain Station opened.
1916Third (present) station at South Orange opened.
